On cross carrying (Matthew 16:24-26)

Courage -

Like love -

Comes in

Many kinds.

Maybe what

Is sometimes needed

Is not the obvious forms

Of battle heroism

Or foolish assumption

Of untouchable invincibility.

But instead

Recognising our vulnerability

We can still

Lift our eyes

From the dust

And sing

In the darkness

As somehow

We find the strength

To choose the path

We have not chosen

And walk it

In the hope

Of His grace.
