Walking on water (Matthew 14:22-36)

I am no Peter.

I am a stay-in-the-boat

Kind of follower

Not venturing out

For either

The exhilaration

Or the failure

Of walking to Jesus.

I would see only

The ferocity

Of the waves

And hear

The howling

Of the wind.

Yet those of us

In the boat

Are also loved

And for us too

The word comes

That stills

The storm.
