On Saturday, we wait

Updated: Mar 5, 2021

On the Sabbath, they rested, according to the command

There is nothing to do today. Jesus is in the tomb, and there is nothing to do, and nowhere to go.

Is Jesus resting too?

After all the teaching, the healing, the arguing and the conflict, after all the trying to make sure the disciples "got it", after the stresses of the last week, after the horror of the trial and the distress of the Cross

is he resting?

The world is not.

Everything goes on just as before; the soldiers guard the tomb, the women weep, the men feel futilely angry and they are all afraid. And the rest of the city doesn't notice anything.

Around the world, violence, political expediency and short term gain rule. Around the world, women weep and men are rendered powerless.

Around the world, nothing has changed.

But everything is different.

We just can't see it yet....and there is nothing we can do.

And dare to rest....
